Johan Nygren
Katrineholm - Sweden
Johan is from Sweden and has been fly fishing and tying for over 30 years. Though Sweden offers excellent fly-fishing waters, Johan prefer to wet his flies in other regions, his favorite being Russia’s Kola Peninsula. Johan has been guiding the Kola since 2005. He finds the Russian trout is the perfect prey; big, beautiful, strong and temperamental, and it lives in one of the last untouched wilderness areas in Europe. As a fly tier Johan’s goal is to create simple and versatile fishing flies. He feels it’s more important to give the fish an impression of something edible than to count legs. This does not hinder Johan the artist from tying more detailed flies as well. Fly tying is a part of Johan’s fly-fishing lifestyle and almost as fun as fishing…almost. He also is a photographer and writer, with several articles and photos published in Swedish fly-fishing magazines. As a lecturer he informs others of the fishing on the Kola Peninsula, in Iceland or Argentina and the flies he uses so successfully there. In his blog, Johan shows readers his flies and other, hopefully, interesting information. To read what’s going on with Johan visit www.bigtrout.wordpress.com.
