Al moved to Colorado in 1989 and worked as a designer/engineer and project manager in the robotics/custom automation industry. He hired on with PEAK Fishing as Brand Manager in 2009.  He also owns and operates Al Ritt Flies with his wife Diana. In addition to PEAK Fishing’s pro team, Al is a member of the Whiting Farms, Flymen Fishing Company, Partridge Hooks, Semperfli and Loop USA pro staffs and is a fly designer for Montana Fly Company.  He has written articles for Fly Fishing and Tying Journal, Fly Fusion, Fly Tyer and Hatches Magazine and is a Field Editor for Fly Fusion.  Al authored the book 25 Best Most Versatile Flies.  He has contributed to, or is featured in, Colorado Trout Flies by Todd Hosman, Modern Midges by Rick Takahashi and Jerry Hubka, A Flyfishing Guide to Rocky Mountain National Park by Steve Schweitzer, 100 Best Flies for Montana Trout and 100 Best Flies for Colorado Trout both by Thomas R Pero, Better Flies, Faster and The Master’s Fly Box both by Dave Klausmeyer.  He is a member of TU, a life member of the FFI and the FFI Fly Tying Group.  He is a member of the FFI Fly Tying Group Board of Governors and an FFI FTG Bronze, Silver and Gold Level Fly Tying Award recipient.  He and Diana host destination travel through Al Ritt Flies and have offered trips to Colorado, Wyoming, Alaska, Mexico, Belize, Nevada, Oregon, Alberta and Quebec offering fishing for rainbow, brown, brook and cutthroat trout, Lahontan Cutthroat trout, steelhead, Pacific salmon, Atlantic salmon, bonefish, permit, snook, tarpon and more.
