Mariano currently lives in Costa Rica, where he was born. He has over 20 years of fly-fishing experience in both fresh and saltwater. He is an accomplished tier, commercial tyer and fly-fishing guide. Mariano actively promotes the sport of fly fishing in Costa Rica through seminars, fly tying demonstrations and casting instruction. His experience tying flies goes from tiny trout flies to huge billfish and marlin flies. Local guide trips he organizes include fly fishing for a wide variety of local species, among them tarpon, snook, tuna, roosterfish, trout, machaca, and others. He enjoys constantly working on new fly patterns and trying out new materials that come on the market. Currently his main goal is to bring new people to the sport and explore the wide variety of fly-fishing opportunities Costa Rica has to offer.
